GEMP Apartments is a family-run hosting business in central Athens. Since 2019 we have designed, renovated, and looked after every apartment ourselves — earning 1,844 reviews at 4.85★ on Airbnb.
Our story
The space came first. GEMP began with a single office in central Athens — our parents' graphic design studio, from the days when design was done by hand. For years, that room was where layouts were drawn and client work was patiently crafted.
Then the tools changed. Photoshop and Illustrator replaced the drafting table, and one machine could do what a whole studio once did. The room sat empty — and a craft built over a lifetime didn't translate into the digital world as easily as the work did.
So we built something new from it. Rather than let the space go to waste, our family spent the better part of a year turning the old studio into a proper apartment — with our own hands. One apartment, finished in 2019.
Then the neighbours noticed. Other owners in the building saw the result and asked us to do the same for their apartments: renovate, host, and look after them as if they were our own. That's how the second one came. And the third. Today, more than thirty.
GEMP is our initials — George, Elena, Michael, Panagiota — because the business is us. Every apartment in our care has been renovated and is managed by our family, the same way we did the first one.
One office became one apartment. The neighbours did the rest.

Hi, I'm Michael. I was born and raised in Athens, and I still get excited every time someone new walks through the door of one of our apartments. Athens has it all — incredible history, amazing energy, and honestly, the best food in the world.
